Become a host for Peartree Languages
If you have a spare room(s), you can earn between £85 to £500 per week, depending on the services you provide and the number of students you host. We are always looking for host accommodation in Cardiff and Penarth. Other areas may be considered, so please do get in touch.
Our peak season is June, July and August, however, we do look for placements all year round and students can stay from a minimum of a few nights, up to a full academic year, depending on your preferences and the student’s requirements. We place adults (18+) and juniors (under 18) in homestay and you can tell us which age group you are comfortable hosting upon application.
Some students look for a room only experience, requiring no meals and a house share arrangement, while others look for a full package including meals, transfers and supervision. Payment will reflect the level of care and responsibility that you provide, however, we expect all hosts to be welcoming and sociable with our students as the element of interaction is one of the main reasons that a student might choose host accommodation, instead of a residential option. English must be the first or main language of your household as students expect to be immersed in an environment where they can experience natural English being used on a day to day basis.
There are many benefits to hosting an international student. There is of course the financial reward, but also you and your family will have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and perhaps even make a life-long friend or contact. Many of our hosts have been invited to visit former students in their home country and often tell us that they learn as much from the students as the student learns from being in the UK. It is a really rewarding experience.
At Peartree we want to build long-standing relationships with our host providers and we have existing hosts who have worked with us for many years, choosing to only host for Peartree due to our friendly, professional approach. We have financial reward referral schemes in place when you sign up with us and then recommend others who also become hosts.

As we are an accredited school, we also comply with the latest safeguarding and best practice rules. We will guide you through the paperwork steps and we invite new hosts to come to Peartree to carry out any training as necessary.
We require the following from our hosts as part of the application procedure:
2 References Copy of CV Copy of passport Safeguarding training*DBS for all adults in the house, or a household DBS check*
